According to the annual media report of the MRSZ, the biggest growth in 2024 was once again achieved by smaller players: cinema still managed to grow by 15% in 2024 and radio (+14.1%) also performed strongly.

Changes in media revenues by media type: cinema (+15%), radio (+14.1%), digital media (+10%), television (+8.6%), public space (+6.2%), press (-8.3%). In 2025, cinema media achieved the highest growth in advertising revenues and all other media types, except press, also increased their revenues.

Zsuzsanna Kiss, Director of Media Sales at Cinema City/New Age Advertising, said, "The cinema sector has reached a new record in 2024, with a 15% growth rate, so the cinema advertising market now accounts for a HUF 3.9 billion slice of the media pie. This result has been largely helped by the strong presence of blockbuster films such as Inside out 2, Gru 4, Dune: Part Two, as well as Hungarian productions such as I've Gone Running and How I Could Live Without You, which are attracting ever larger audiences to cinemas.

Cinema advertising is also on the rise, as more brands recognise the unique reach of cinema advertising and the high engagement of viewers. The cinema as an advertising platform offers a remarkable efficiency: viewers watch commercials without interruption, with full attention, on a huge screen of up to 400 square metres. These factors combine to further strengthen cinema as a premium advertising platform.

In 2025, the buzz in cinemas is set to continue, with a number of major films set to return to the big screen. The highly anticipated sequels include Avatar, Mission: Impossible, Superman and the next Jurassic World, as well as new big-budget productions such as F1, Minecraft and the Michael Jackson biopic. These films are expected to further boost audiences and strengthen the cinema advertising market."
