The screenplay for Asteroid City was written by Anderson based on a story he co-wrote with Roman Coppola. The production takes place in a fictional American desert city around 1955. Students and parents from all over the country come to the village to attend the convention. However, the convention is spectacularly disrupted by changing world events.
