The eccentric millionaire Cassidy (Mick Jagger) unexpectedly invites critic James Figueras (Claes Bang) to his estate on Lake Como. He has a plan for him. James appears with the seductive and mysterious Berenice (Elizabeth Debicki). Cassidy makes an offer he can't refuse. He wants him to steal a unique picture for him, which he obsessively desires, promising him fame and a career in return. James accepts the order and falls into the dangerous trap of greed, ambition and lies, entailing the unaware Berenice. They will both discover a truth they would never want to know.
