The film is based on the autobiographical novel by Emmanuèle Bernheim, Ozon's friend, with which the director has worked many times. Bernheim died in 2017 and this movie is a tribute to a late friend. When Emmanuèle stops work and picks up the phone, she doesn't know yet how much it will change in her life. It turns out that the woman's 85-year-old father is hospitalized after a serious stroke. The concerned character, however, hopes that this time the man will come out unscathed. He and his sister fall into a spiral of hospital life, spending most of the time at the bedside of a weakened André. This is a moment for Emmanuèle to look back at the past and analyze the complicated relationship with her father. The situation immediately turned around, because suddenly he became completely dependent on his daughter. Especially since the stroke caused irreversible changes in the male body. When André learns that only slow vegetation awaits him, he asks his daughter to help him die. Only in France it is tantamount to breaking the law.
