Eleven-year-old Karin, who recently lost her mother, is left in the care of her grandfather, who disappears to attend to "important matters." At the temple, which her grandfather cares for, Karin meets Anzu, a talking cat the size of a human. And the cat, being a cat, follows his own path, is lazy and mischievous. Despite this, he rides a scooter, talks a lot on his cell phone, and offers his services as a masseur. Missing her father, and above all, her deceased mother, Karin embarks on a grand adventure to Tokyo, and Anzu, who travels with her, unexpectedly proves to be a good travel companion.
