Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Ballet in a new choreography by Christian Spuck and performed by the Zurich Ballet. Can a Prince dance on a skateboard in a classical ballet? And how! And children and their parents will be delighted to watch on the big screen this completely unusual version of the famous "Nutcracker" to Tchaikovsky's fairy-tale music, prepared by the outstanding German choreographer Christian Spuck, whose colorful and subversive interpretation of "Sleeping Beauty" we recently saw in cinemas. Christian Spuck, without distancing himself from the world-famous version of "The Nutcracker", focused on the theme of Christmas, at the same time returned to the source from which this ballet drew. His performance omits later adaptations of the story by E. T. A. Hoffmann, a German writer of the Romantic period, a precursor of horror fantasy. The choreographer has kept the original plot: because the Mouse Queen does not get enough bacon from the royal couple, she transforms their daughter Pirlipatka into a monster with big teeth, who from now on demands tons of nuts from her parents to eat. The Zurich performance has a gloomy atmosphere to this romantic piece for children, but Christian Spuck fills the stage with spectacular classical and contemporary dance.
