A lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to seek help from a distinguished, ahead-of-her-time physician and researcher, Dr. Euphronius (Annette Bening). Together, they bring a murdered young woman, Ida, back to life, giving birth to the Bride (Jessie Buckley). The newborn woman turns out to be much more than anyone could have anticipated. Her appearance ignites a dangerous romance, attracts police attention, and ignites a wild, radical social movement.
