Eye specialist Grace (Jena Malone) arrives in a remote convent in Scotland to investigate the alleged suicide of her younger brother, a priest. Not trusting the Church's reports, the woman conducts her own investigation, trying to determine what really happened. She is helped by a Vatican priest, Father Romero. As she searches the convent's dark corners, wild cliffs and windswept beaches, Grace uncovers not only traces of murder and sacrilege, but also a disturbing truth about her own past that uncovers long-forgotten trauma.
