After a catastrophe that nearly destroyed our planet and led to the extinction of most of its inhabitants, John Garrity, his wife, and son attempt to start a new life in a devastated world. Forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland, they set out across a ruined Europe in search of habitable lands. It is said that in the south of former France, the air and water are pure enough to offer a chance of survival. But first, they must get there. The path leads through ruined, depopulated cities and polluted deserts that were once human habitats. The most dangerous, however, are the territories inhabited by survivors willing to do anything to survive. Each day of this journey could prove to be their last, and each new friend could become a mortal enemy.
