The residents of Hope, a quiet coastal town, find themselves cut off from the outside world by deadly wildfires consuming the surrounding forests. The police receive numerous reports of unusual activity among predatory animals, which have begun attacking people. It soon becomes clear that these dramatic events are merely a prelude to something far worse. As people begin to die under increasingly gruesome circumstances, it becomes evident that Hope has become the target of mysterious creatures—beings that are neither human nor animal. Where do they come from, what are their intentions, and is Hope just one piece of a much larger, more sinister plan? Two local police officers set out to find the answers, but to do so, they must first manage to survive.
