A tragicomedy in the style of a road movie, this film explores the challenges faced by a contemporary family fractured by cultural differences and migration. A Greek father and his Polish-born son—both at a turning point in their lives—reunite in Athens following the death of the woman who was the father’s ex-wife and the son’s mother. They must now settle the matter of a family apartment in Wałbrzych. While united by their shared loss, they are divided by clashing temperaments, language barriers, and unspoken grievances—tensions frequently defused by unexpected humor, irony, and a rough, masculine tenderness. Driven by circumstance, they embark on a journey to Poland in an old Polonez, retracing the path taken by Greeks fleeing the civil war in 1949. As they travel across Europe—against the backdrop of modern-day migration—they attempt to make up for lost time, learning how to be together again; at times awkwardly, at times comically, and often painfully. For the son, it is a belated lesson in masculine courage and the history of the Greek diaspora in Poland; for the father, it is a lesson in responsibility, humility, and the kind of emotional closeness he had never before been able to allow himself.
