In post-WWII London, Ada Harris (Academy Award® nominee Lesley Manville) makes a living cleaning houses. She has been living a lonely life since her beloved husband Eddie is missing in action, but he is not the type of person to brood over misfortunes. One day, Ada notices Christian Dior's unimaginably beautiful gown hanging in the bedroom of a wealthy client. Having something so beautiful, a real work of art - oh, that could really change a person's life. After taking up extra work and saving as much as possible - even trying her luck on the racetrack - Ada can finally afford Dior's gown. He says goodbye to close friends Vi (Ellen Thomas) and Archie (Jason Isaacs) and heads to Paris to visit the luxurious Dior House and turn his dreams into reality. However, upon arriving at the scene, Ada faces a series of startling complications, the least of which is the intimidating Madame Colbert (Academy Award® nominee Isabelle Huppert), who shudders at the mere thought that an ordinary housewife might wear a haute couture gown. However, regardless of the obstacles, Ada does not want to leave Paris without her dress. Her unwavering commitment captivates Dior's accountant André (Lucas Bravo), the polite model, Natasha (Alba Baptista), and the aristocrat, Marquis de Chassagne (Lambert Wilson), Paris's most coveted bachelor. Ada soon discovers that by changing her own life, she is starting to change the lives of everyone around her.
