"Suzume" is a coming-of-age story for the 17-year-old main character. The animation takes place in various disaster-stricken locations across Japan. Suzume's journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu (Southwest Japan) when she meets a boy who is looking for a mysterious door. Suzume finds them destroyed among the ruins, as if shielded from any catastrophe, Suzume seems to be drawn to their power and reaches out to open them... The doors begin to open more doors across Japan, wreaking havoc Suzume must close these portals to prevent further catastrophe.
