Retransmission from the Paris National Opera. The most famous ballet in the world filmed like never before – using the spectacular IMAX technique, but available to all types of cinemas. An additional advantage of this new production is the fact that the cameras have been positioned unusually, on the stage, between the dancers. It will be possible to “touch” the dancing swans. “Swan Lake” from the Paris National Opera is the quintessence of classical dance performed by the best ballet company in the world. It is a staging in the famous choreography of the late Rudolf Nureyev. Shortly after his escape from the USSR, this one of the most outstanding dancers and choreographers of the 20th century became the director of the Paris Opera ballet company. He created many wonderful performances here, including “Swan Lake”. He based his version on the original choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The performance, because of its beauty, is still performed in Paris, more than 30 years after the death of its creator, the legendary Tatar. The beautiful music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky perfectly illustrates the romantic story of Prince Siegfried (played by first soloist Paul Marque), who falls in love with Odette (first soloist Sae Eun Park), a princess transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart (first dancer Pablo Legas). The orchestra of the Paris National Opera is conducted by Vello Pähn. The film is directed by Isabelle Julien.
