During a chase through New York's Metropolitan Museum, Tom and Jerry accidentally activate a mythical Astral Compass, transporting them to the dazzling City of Gold, a place of ancient legend. Tom is hailed as a deity and becomes the favorite of the ruler and his subjects. Meanwhile, the underestimated and jealous Jerry falls into the clutches of a charismatic but dangerous rat boss. It soon becomes clear that the city's ruler and the rat boss are locked in an eternal struggle for control of the City of Gold, with Tom and Jerry merely pawns in their game. To survive and save their subjects, they will have to put their eternal rivalry on hold and stand together to defend good.
