"Wielka Warszawska" (The Great Warsaw Race) is the story of a young jockey dreaming of a sporting career. The culmination of these dreams is participation in the most important race in Poland – the Wielka Warszawska (The Great Warsaw Race). The protagonist, Krzysiek, enters the horse racing world with the naivety of a novice and enthusiast. Only after some time does he realize that the races are a web of dependencies, powerful interests, and manipulation of results. He believes he can change this, especially since the country is on the brink of major transformation. The fall of communism gives hope that the future will only be better, and the rules clearer. However, in a world of corruption and dirty tricks, it's difficult to remain unblemished. Will Krzysiek be able to resist the big money and rapid career? How much is he willing to sacrifice to disrupt the prevailing system?
