First half of 2022 very good for cinema!

According to estimates by New Age Media and BoxOffice, nearly 18 million tickets were sold in Polish cinemas during the first six months of this year. In the list of top films, as many as four exceeded the level of 1 million viewers. The results of the first half of the year prove that cinema is doing very well.

This is the first full six months that the cinema has been running continuously, and we can finally analyze attendance in the Polish market in a fully legible way. In practically every month, we have seen films that were definitely leading the Polish box-office. In January it was the animation "Sing 2," in February the spectacular adaptation of the hit video game titled "Uncharted," in March another part of the story of the guardian of Gotham City - "Batman."

We were particularly positively surprised by the attendance results in April and May. It was always in June that audiences flocked to theaters, but this year showed that a good title will attract viewers in front of the big screen, regardless of the month. The list of top openings included two April premieres: "Fantastic Animals: The Mysteries of Dumbledore" and "Sonic 2: Lightning Fast." The latter ranked third on the list of half-year hits.

May and June belonged to superheroes. The Marvel blockbuster "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and the return to the big screen after 36 years (!) of Tom Cruise in the iconic role of the pilot of "Maverick" in "Top Gun: Maverick" were the May hits. According to our estimates, the new Top Gun, also achieved the best results in June, and both productions exceeded the ceiling of one million viewers in Poland(!) In June, dinosaurs also reigned supreme on cinema screens

in the final installment of the new trilogy Jurassic World: Dominion.

It is also worth noting that each of the films in the TOP 10 list of the first half of the year has more than half a million tickets sold. We can't fail to mention here the opening result of the July blockbuster, "Minions: Entrance of the Gru," which during only the first few days of screening scored the highest attendance of all films - more than half a million viewers since March 2020. And that's just the beginning! 😊 The two previous installments of the series also boasted record-breaking openings, but neither of them surpassed the level of 500,000 tickets sold in such a short period of time.

To sum up, currently the most watched films in Poland are a mix of: animation, superheroes from the world of Marvel and DC, action films with strong casts and high-budget productions.

JULY AT THE CINEMA

Summer is the perfect time for family productions. The opening result of the latest adventures of the Minions shows that during the hot summer months we also like to take a breather in the cinema hall. July premieres will include offerings for everyone. Among those that will hit the big screen will be: a great documentary about the outstanding film music composer Ennio Morricone entitled "Ennio." There will also be no shortage of superheroes from Marvel - "Thor: Love and Thunder" and from the world of DC - "DC League of Super-Pets", nor domestic productions - on the third weekend of July, a romance full of music and emotion "For a while, forever" starring Paweł Domagała and Martyna Byczkowska debuting on the big screen.
