The attendance results for May and April forecast a good second quarter in Polish cinema. April's box office and attendance hit ‘Minecraft: The Movie’ and May's blockbuster ‘Lilo & Stitch’ reign supreme in the Polish BoxOffice.
Since 23 May, we can watch the comedy-adventure film “Lilo&Stich” on the big screen. During the opening weekend, it was seen by more than 300,000 viewers. The production was also the most watched film during the Children's Day weekend, gathering nearly 400,000 viewers in front of the big screen. 'Lilo&Stich' is already the 5th film with an audience of over 1 million in Poland. However, it was not just a success in our market. Globally, it was the second biggest opening of the year.
The May repertoire was also marked by a picture from Warner, 'Deceive Destiny: Blood Ties'. A group of people avoid death thanks to a vision, but destiny quickly claims its own. This time, the clues lead to dark family secrets.
A production from Disney, “Thunderbolts*” also achieved significant results. The atypical story of Marvel heroes, who are themselves atypical anti-heroes, appealed to Polish audiences.
On the penultimate Friday in May, we were able to see the premiere of Tom Cruise's latest film, “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning”. With a production budget of USD 400 million, this is the level of the most expensive productions.
The aforementioned April hit 'Minecraft. The Movie' continued to be popular in May, with a current cumulative attendance of nearly 3 million viewers.
