Another good year for cinema behind us!

We ended 2024 with nearly 50 million tickets sold. Despite the announced

recession by some media, the attendance results show that cinema has a lot to offer, including a new Polish super hit and also number 1 on the TOP list of cinema hits of 2024..., with the next part already in theaters.

The effects of the end of the strikes and the return to work of filmmakers overseas will probably be more noticeable in 2025. This, however, does not mean that in the past year the film giants were idle, and it must even be said that they were spectacularly successful. For us, the most faithful users of the BoxOffice service who regularly track attendance results, this year proved to be exceptional. Each of the months brought surprises. The biggest sensations are presented below.

Looking at BoxOffice results in Poland, we noted the positive coordination of cinema with streaming. Audiences certainly enjoy watching familiar and admired heroes on the big screen. And the more nostalgic ones check out old friends whose fates they once met in the cinema. Thanks to the platforms, they can remember everything.

#1 Akademia Pana Kleksa (premiere 05.01.2024) 2.9 million viewers.

It's been a long time since we had such a high-budget production for children and teenagers in Polish cinema. We have finally lived to see a Polish Harry Potter. The film took the country by storm from the beginning of its broadcast and gained sensational opening results. In the Cinema City chain, it was one of the longest-screened films in 2024. The next installment of the adventures of the students of Mr. Blank's Academy is already in theaters.

#2 Inside out 2 (opening 12.06.2024) 2.6 million viewers.

Emotions “play” well on the cinema screen. The results of this year's production of “In Heads Don't Belong” surpassed twice the results of the first part from 2015 (then it was 960 thousand viewers).

#3 Gru and the Minions: Undercover (released 05/07/2024) 2.4 million viewers.

On the podium we have 3 films with attendance above 2 million viewers. The friendly yellow creatures again attracted millions of viewers in front of the big screen, surpassing the results of the last production of 2017 (Gru, Dru and the Minions, 1,950 thousand viewers).

#4 Listy do M. Pożegnania i powroty (premiere 07.11.2024) 1.7 million viewers.

Since 2011 we have been following the fate of the characters of the Christmas story “Letters to M.”. This year's production is the 6th part. Ticket sales results surpassed the effects of the fifth part in 2022 (1.5 million viewers). The highest opening results among Polish films show that we missed with Tomasz Karolak in the role of Santa Claus😊.

#5 Diune 2 (premiere 29.02.2024) 1.7 million viewers.

Denis Villeneuve director of the show “Diuna” did not make us wait long. After the success of 2021's Diuna (1 million viewers) in March we again moved to the intriguing planet. Brilliant names in the cast, legions of fans of the saga and the movies are a guarantee of success. Work is underway on part 3, which we will likely see in 2027.

#6 Vaiana 2 (release 27.11.2024) 1.4 million viewers.

Walt Disney Animation studio is used to the fact that every autumn we can count on magical productions for young and old. In 2024, it was no different. The title character has been winning the hearts of fans since 2016. After its release in the cinema, the fan base gradually grew by new generations through the streaming platform.

#7 Deadpool & Wolverine (release 26.07.2024) 1.7 million viewers.

For several years now, we have seen that cinema does not slow down during the holiday months. The good attendance performance of the latest production from Marvel's forge proves it. This is a very good prediction for the 3 already announced productions from the Disney studio: Fantastic 4, Thunderbolts* and Captain America: A New Wonderful World.

#8 Kung fu Panda 4 (release 08.03.2024) 1.1 million viewers.

We first met the friendly Panda bear in 2008. The 2024 premiere achieved comparable results to the first part, after 16 years😊.

#9 The Fledglings (premiere 05.01.2024) 1.1 million viewers.

At the beginning of 2024, a story about a family of ducks who decide to take a daring journey into the unknown came out of the studio - the mother of Minions. The popularity of this production shows that successful attendance results can be achieved, even when there is such strong competition as Mr. Blossom's Academy in the repertory at the same time.

#10 Gladiator II (premiere 15.11) 1 million viewers.

After 24 years of waiting, in November we had the opportunity to see Ridley Scott's long-awaited production. This new tale drawing inspiration from the legacy of Maximus also became a box office and attendance hit worldwide.

2025 promises to be a sensational year. The repertoire will not let NAM and viewers get bored😊 In January alone we will see 33 films premiered, 10 more than in 2024. Among them, the most important titles include: “Sonic 3: Fast as Lightning,” ‘Kleks and the Invention of Philip Shaver,’ Patrick Vega's ‘Putin,’ the award-winning ‘Girl with a Needle’ at the Gdynia Film Festival, and the film that young people are waiting for, ”Pepper Mickiewicz 2.” And January is just the beginning!
