We have reached the 23-million-viewer mark; this is the figure recorded by Polish cinemas from January to June this year. Figures for the first half of the year as a whole, as well as for the second quarter alone, remained at a similar level compared with the same period in 2025. January was the month with the highest attendance (4.7 million cinema-goers). This was down to popular blockbusters and a strong line-up during the first month of the year. The end of the second quarter also looked positive compared to last year. Attendance in May and June was boosted by major international releases. Among the most-watched films was also the third installment of the adventures of friends from Poland’s most famous secondary school, which rounded off the top five for that period.

TOP 5 January–June 2026

June on a high note

June’s attendance figures are more than 20 per cent higher than the same period last year. Last month, the cult series of home toy adventures, TOY STORY 5, recorded excellent results. The series has enjoyed consistent popularity since 1996, when we were first introduced to Woody and the whole team of spirited toys. The film also recorded very strong ticket sales over its opening weekend.

In second place is BACKROOMS, an intriguing film by a filmmaker with a background in online content. Kane Parsons is an American YouTuber who began filming his web series in 2002. The content centred on fictional horror stories, most often urban legends. His first feature film, from A24, told the story of a mysterious warehouse from which it is difficult to escape. In third place on the June box office podium was OBSESSION. This horror film has already been hailed as the best horror film of the year, and Halloween is still a few months away... The film’s creator is also a popular online content creator. The box-office and audience success of the two films described above show that we are most keen to watch interesting, short-form content on the big screen. Undoubtedly, creators known from the internet not only confirm this but can also guarantee it.
