A Strong Finish to the Summer Vacation at the Movies
Throughout both summer months, movie attendance remained high. In August, the films that drew the most interest were July releases: “Spider-Man. A Whole New Day” and “Odyssey,” but between these two titles, the August release of the animated film for the youngest viewers, “Paw Patrol and the Dinosaurs,” jumped into second place. Ticket sales for the entire year 2026 so far are up compared to the same period last year.
Over 32 million moviegoers visited Polish theaters by the end of August. This figure is 4% higher than the results for the same period last year. Poles are increasingly opting for premium formats, and Cinema City recorded one of the strongest sales weekends in its history in Poland, driven in part by the aforementioned new “Spider-Man.” This film set a new opening record in the ScreenX format, surpassing the previous record by as much as 101%, while “Odyssey” broke all-time attendance records at BNP Paribas IMAX theaters. This shows that today’s moviegoers are looking for not just a movie, but above all, a unique experience. It is no coincidence that these films top the list of this year’s highest-grossing releases at the global box office.

Fall in the Shadow of “The Doll”
At the end of September, one of this year’s biggest Polish premieres hits theaters—“Lalka,” directed by Maciej Kawalski, with an impressive cast. The lead roles are played by Marcin Dorociński and Kamila Urzędowska, while Marek Kondrat, returning to the big screen after a 16-year hiatus, plays the shop assistant. Several generations of Polish actors came together on set,
and approximately 2,000 extras took part in the filming. Additional interest in the film is being generated by the simultaneous premiere of a production with the same title on a streaming service. The film’s producers are expecting very high attendance—there are even predictions that *Lalka*’s box office results could surpass those of *Pan Tadeusz*, one of the biggest Polish theatrical releases, which was seen by over 6 million viewers.
*Lalka* hits theaters September 30!

See you at the movies!
