March at the movies shows no signs of slowing down. As expected for this time of year, the big screen brings a wave of compelling local and international productions. Here is our selection of the most interesting premieres in Polish cinemas.
GOOD BOY
Nineteen-year-old Tommy’s life is an endless party with no rules, no limits and no responsibility. Everything changes when he wakes up in the basement of a house inhabited by a strange family. The residents want to “fix” him by force. This dark psychological story explores the line between upbringing and control, and where it turns into torture. A tense and unsettling film arriving on March 6.
THE BRIDE
A lonely Frankenstein longs for a companion and convinces a brilliant scientist to create the perfect partner for him. After the resurrection of a murdered woman, a story of obsessive love and a twisted romance unfolds between two “monsters” rejected by the world. In cinemas from March 6.
KRÓL DOPALACZY (local)
A Polish take on The Wolf of Wall Street, inspired by true events. Tomasz Włosok stars as a businessman who suddenly discovers gold in the form of legal highs. It is a high-octane ride of adrenaline, constant partying and luxury living, with gangsters and authorities closing in fast. In cinemas from March 13.
NIE MA DUCHÓW W MIESZKANIU NA DOBREJ (local)
Four siblings and a mysterious presence in their family apartment. Directed by Emi Buchwald, the film is a portrait of contemporary young people. It received a very warm response from audiences at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. In cinemas from March 13.
HOPPED
An extraordinary animal lover is given a unique opportunity. Thanks to new technology, she can “hop” her consciousness into the body of a metal beaver. Without hesitation, she takes the chance to experience the natural world from a completely new perspective. A new production from the creators of Toy Story at Pixar that both entertains and educates. In cinemas from March 6.
ZA DUŻY NA BAJKI 3 (local)
Waldek is on the verge of a breakdown. Home feels like a battlefield, the internet is boiling over, and his gaming team is falling apart before our eyes. In a moment of weakness, he posts a careless comment that sparks a wave of online hate, hurting someone close to him, Delfina. The film shows what happens when teenagers try to cope with problems that even adults struggle to understand. The third installment of Waldek’s adventures arrives in cinemas on March 6.
